Emoji is a computer language created to send lots of information in a small amount of data. It is list of predefined messages (or pictures) stored on your computer or phone which you can select. Emojis are great but not all phones and computers can decode or see them! iOS 4 More Info
From iOS 2.2 all the way through 4, there are two free apps to unlock emojis. Use this walkthrough to use emoji on these devices.
iOS 5
You can now enable emoji by adding the keyboard under settings. Although, there are some PAID apps that will allow you to unlock more.
iOS 6, & 7 & iOS 8 More Info
All the iPhone emoji on iOS 6, 7, and iOS 8 are available under keyboards. No apps necessary! You get whole wide variety, for free! There's so many to choose from... Emoji flesh skin tones coming soon!
Did you know?
The actual character the iPhone generates changed for many emojis in iOS5 and a handful changed in iOS7. You can still create older iPhone emoji by clicking 'Show Options' and select the button of your preference under 'Emoji Symbols' then clicking on a face.
