Tanabata tree is the combination of a bamboo shoot and a wish made on a piece of paper that is tied to the bamboo shoot. Tanabata trees displayed on the Japanese holiday of Tanabata. The Tanabata holiday is inspired by a Chinese folklore story about two lovers that were forced to be apart for all but one day a year, the 7th day of the 7th month in the lunisolar calendar.
